About the trip

Get to know Buddhism more deeply than ever by visiting the homes of the world’s last group of artisans who make hand-made monk’s alms bowls. Experience the lifestyle of the locals in the community who have carried on the knowledge of making the alms bowls, one of the eight necessities of a Buddhist monk, since the Ayutthaya period. Come and listen to the fun and knowledgeable stories from the professional artisans themselves. Also, make sure you come on an empty stomach, and try out the unique recipe of their fried rice! Also, you can try out painting the alms bowls using ancient techniques, and prepare to dance to Ban Bat’s version of Thai dance!


Main Activities

  • Follow every fascinating step of making the alms bowl by hand closely.
  • Taste the ‘Rod Fai (train) fried rice’ that cannot be found in any typical restaurant. Traditional menu from the dining cabin of Thailand’s traina.
  • Paint the Anthurium-like element of the alms bowls using traditional painting techniques and take it home as a special and unique souvenir.
  • Dance along to the joyful music of the Ban Bat community.
